Responsible for Educational Readiness to prepare students to test for the GED Exam at 12550 Emily Court, Sugar Land, Texas. This is a Part-Time position, Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, up to 29 hours per week.
Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group and department.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for being fully knowledgeable in reading, math, science and social studies.
- Administers pre-tests at the various probation department sites.
- Works directly with the students that are identified to be in need of the remedial work to prepare them for the GED Exam. Provides individual instruction and tutoring as needed.
- Provides weekly progress reports to probation staff indicating progress.
- Assists with the various job skills, life skills and introduction to higher education instruction, as needed. Assisting and preparing for annual GED graduation.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED; Bachelor's degree in an education or related field preferred.
- One-year practical experience in classroom teaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with education representatives in the community, program participants, various volunteers and other department employees.
- Organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Available to work Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
SALARY: Part-Time, $30.00 per hour, 28 hours per week.
