KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Minimum bachelor's degree in education, counseling, guidance, education administration, social work, or equivalent- Minimum three years of experience in teaching, counseling, or similar educational programs- Ability to work with diverse populations including at-risk youth- Experience in providing individualized support to students- Experience in training and supervising teachers or tutors- Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with students, parents and colleagues- Advanced organizational, planning and management skills; including outstanding written and oral communication skills- Ability to set and monitor goals with excellent time management skills- General knowledge of North Carolina Standard Course of Study and Community College Pathways- Participation in a TRIO program or similar program DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES The Career Coach will work with students and their families to establish immediate and long-term postsecondary educational goals. Collaborate with administrators, student services personnel, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services, and to facilitate linkages with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students' transition to postsecondary education. - Conduct needs assessment of students- Assist students with career exploration and linkages with job shadowing, apprenticeships, and other work-based learning opportunities- Develop individualized College Success Plans- Provide financial aid sessions, college application workshops and college tours- Provide individualized case management- Assist students with middle and high school and postsecondary course of study outline- Review student data from the district's Early Warning System- Convene intervention meetings- Provide postsecondary transition support- Conduct career inventories- Supervise tutors- Assist Project Director with maintaining records- Manage data collection for your school- Coordinate career planning activities- Facilitate work-based learning opportunities- Provide and coordinate activities for students to develop employability skills- Promote the integration of career research and work-based learning opportunities into academic courses- Enlist industry mentors to provide college preparation support in the afterschool program- Provide students with access to coding and STEM camps via Institutions of Higher Education (IHE) partners- Launch in-person and virtual field trips to expose students to in-demand industries- Launch college and career planning workshops featuring IHEs, businesses, and industries- Provide college speakers and tours to a variety of IHE partners- Provide financial literacy using EverFi- Offer Reality Store providing real-world career budgeting experience- Participate in local, regional, state, and national professional development activities- Engage in professional growth opportunities to remain current with trends, demands, and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workforce
