Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Gas Turbine Component Repair Engineerthrough July 10th, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.(CDT).  

Chevron has many Gas Turbine assets to support O&G operations globally.  Candidate will have the opportunity to join the GT Maintenace Optimization Team that consists of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the planning, execution and optimization of Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine turnarounds for these assets.  Responsibilities include but not limited to vendor shop work oversight, capital part refurbishment QA/QC and inventory management /Optimization. 

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Management of Turbine Component Repairs, and the life cycle of large frame Gas Turbine Components for CPP's supported business units - both domestic and international.
  • Perform as a subject matter expert on Gas Turbine parts and repair technology.
  • Will provide guidance and technical recommendations to GT repair suppliers to ensure CVX repair standards are met.
  • Will conduct final QA/QC inspections of GT Component Repairs prior to shipment to site locations.  Supplier shops are located globally.
  • Will provide pre and post TA planning support for GT outages.
  • Will evaluate GT components and provide Condition Based maintenance recommendations.
  • Will draft repair specifications and instructions as needed.
  • Will administer Component Repair Shop Qualification program and re-certify existing approved facilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Materials Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong competency and exposure to Turbine Component Repair technology - in a repair shop environment or as a Gas Turbine end user. 
  • Candidate should have experience in refurbishment of Gas Turbine corrosion resistant alloys and high temperature superalloys, as well as associated welding procedures, heat treatments, machining practices and coating application.
  • Candidate will have a background in Gas Turbine materials and knowledge of historical technology advancements related to component design and upgrades. 
  • Experience with large Frame GT (GE Frame 5, 6, 7 and/or 9) turbines and related compressor and hot gas path components is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with NDE processes and evaluation using various techniques (Visual, Dye Penetrant, FPI, X-Ray, UT etc.)
  • Familiar with precision measurement devices and techniques (Calipers, Faro Arm, Bore gauge)
