Garden And Farm Worker

The Garden and Farm Worker will assist in the implementation of the Agricultural Initiative Program (AIP) in partnership with members of the Agricultural Initiatives Team to grow, pack and distribute fresh produce through The San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB). This individual will help maintain our farms, gardens and assist in volunteer engagement.

• Work under the supervision of the Farm Manager and accomplish tasks and assignments.

• Perform overall garden maintenance to include, but not limited to; weeding, planting, seed germination, farm and garden preparation, harvesting, irrigation, etc.

• Monitor farms and gardens for trash and debris.

• Ability to work with a variety of community members and volunteers.

• Engage volunteers in assigned activities and delegate tasks.

• Greet and orientate volunteers as well as share the mission of the San Antonio Food Bank.

• Assure all project supplies are stocked and equipment is well maintained.

• Assist with educational and engagement events for AIP and SAFB.

• Maintain records and weekly reports.

• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Schedule flexibility, work will involve weekends.

• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal, including the ability for effective

• Ability to manage time efficiently and to work independently with minimum supervision.

• Ability to work cooperatively with other staff, volunteers, and agency personnel.

• Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.

• Good judgment and discretion.

• Ability to work outside for long periods of time.

• Has current Texas driver's license and a clean driving record.

Work Environment

This job is performed primarily outdoors with some indoor office work.  You may be required to drive to different locations with varying conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
