Garage Door Installation Technician Commercial & Residential

The Installer is the Installation Technician for residential and/or commercial Garage Doors, door openers, and keyless entry systems.  Work will be performed in newly constructed or existing homes and commercial buildings. The Installer work assignments will be received from the Service Coordinator.  An installer will have the responsibility of reviewing work orders for accuracy and completeness prior to leaving for the jobsite.  An installer is the first line of support for customers and expected to keep a neat and clean appearance as well as treat all customers with a high level of customer service and respect at all times.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·        Review Work Order information for accuracy and completeness and address any questions prior to leaving for the jobsite

·        Ensure truck is fueled, serviced, and ready for operation prior to the beginning of each workday.

·        Truck washing is performed as needed

·        Ensure truck is stocked with appropriate material parts, and tools daily

·        Notify Manager of any required vehicle service or repair that is needed

·        Responsible for reading and thoroughly understanding all instruction manuals for all products installed prior to beginning installation

·        Learn to become efficient at the alignment of tracks, track adjustment, horizontal leveling with slight raise, adequate back hangs, operator arm and photo eye settings

·        Verify address at customer location

·        Install door and associated components as indicated on the work order

·        Check adjustment on all operators

·        Check for proper Door Installations and clearances

·        Check for appropriate UL operator reversing operation and properly document any deficiencies

·        Check all set screws, rollers, cables, and balance, horizontal and vertical track settings

·        Check balance on doors with operator disconnected

·        Oil and lubricate all rollers and springs with appropriate sprays (Not WD-40)

·        Place appropriate stickers on doors and operators

·        Clean up all trash from the jobsite

·        Remove all hand prints or marks on the door prior to leaving site

·        Leave notification with homeowner if anything is wrong and not fully completed

·        Leave warranty and instruction manuals with customer

·        Explain how opener works if homeowner is present

·        Respond to customer questions in a truthful and pleasant manner

·        Immediately notify manager of any injuries sustained while on the job

·        Immediately notify manager of damage to personal property on the job site or damage to company vehicle or tools

·        Accurately record on work order any pertinent details of installation, i.e. head room, other issues or problems)

·        Accurately record date and time along with signature on ticket if job is complete or when you are leaving the site if you need to return

·        Accurately record all materials and supplies used as well as time spent

·        Note additional work that will need to be performed if job is not complete

·        Ensure job site is safe and all materials are out of the way upon completion of the job

·        Must maintain a valid driver’s license for the appropriate vehicle you are driving including a valid health card

·        Notify manager of any driving offenses both work or personal as soon an reasonably possible

·        Work with warehouse staff for proper loading of materials for preparation for next job

·        Participate in safety and accident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable action are taken to prevent accidents and injuries to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees

·        Aid in development of existing employees to create an organization possessing industry leading talent. 

·        Identify talent as needed inside and outside of organization

·        Responsible for cost effective operations

·        Ensure compliance with all government, regulatory and company policies, work procedures and instructions 

·   Perform duties with emphasis on core values, safety, customer service, and productivity

·       Timely follow-through of company initiatives or delegated tasks

·        Communicate with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner

·        Responsible for complying with company policies and procedures

·        Work closely with Service Coordinator for efficient routing and scheduling

·        Perform the duties of an install trainer for Garage Door Installations as assigned

·        Coordinate with warehouse on special needs for installations

·        Perform other related duties as assigned

Education, Qualifications & Experience:

·        High school diploma or GED

·        2+ years in progressively responsible roles, preferably with service industry experience

·        May be required to obtain various certifications related to assigned area of responsibility

WORK CONDITIONS:

This job operates in diverse conditions including but not limited to inside and outdoor conditions that can be exposed to the environment.  This role routinely uses standard installation tools such as portable hand tools, screwdrivers, hammers, ladders and other tolls used in the installation of an overhead Garage Door.  Outdoor environment; exposure to extreme weather conditions; work with and around vehicles/machinery; exposure to dust and fumes from motorized equipment; exposure to noise, odors and gases; exposure to heavy traffic conditions.
