Instructor/Tutor Position
SCHEDULE:
Schedules are set in coordination with schools and families.
For every 60 minutes of instructions, tutors receive 30 minutes of pay for data analysis, planning, data entry, and parent communication
Pay Rate:
The rate of pay for tutors
Teachers as tutors - hourly rate
Paraeducators as tutors - stipend that is equivalent to time and a half.
Substitutes as tutors- hourly rate
Coaches as tutors- hourly substitute teacher rate
Student interns- hourly
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the principal and guidance of central office staff, provides direct instruction and instructional support to students; monitors and evaluates outcomes for all students; aligns instruction to match unique programming at each school; demonstrates proficiency in technology and in the implementation of instruction in the online environment.
It is expected that candidates will be trained in accessing and using online teaching and learning platforms, including but not limited to MyMCPS, Google Classroom, Zoom, and Google Meets. Candidates will also be expected to establish/maintain daily communication with students and families.
The minimal technical requirements include: uninterrupted full internet access as well as the ability to effectively deliver on-line instruction.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Preference will be given to educators who are skilled in remote/online and in-person teaching and learning strategies.
Knowledge of curriculum, and techniques for integrating curriculum, interventions, content expertise, MCPS policies, and effective online instructional practices. Understanding of the teaching/learning process. Ability to provide online instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and is culturally responsive. Ability to provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences online. Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community. Excellent oral and written communication and human relation skills.
