Rutgers University, School of Nursing (SON) is inviting nominations and applications for the François-Xavier Bagnoud Chair in Community and Family Centered Care, a unique opportunity in the field of Community and population health research addressing the importance of family within this context. The goal of the endowment is to foster the continued growth of research programs that support the delivery of comprehensive, community-based health care services that meet the needs of individuals and families at greatest risk for health inequities. This important position offers this leader and scholar the opportunity to conduct population research that examines the range of factors influencing health at the family, Community and population levels and to translate findings to practice and policy. The Endowed Chair in Community and Family Centered Care will provide significant leadership within the FXB Center by:
  • Leveraging community affiliations and stakeholder collaborations to conduct impactful clinical and population-based research to achieve health equity and enhance Community and population health.
  • Integrating diverse disciplinary, stakeholder, and community perspectives to engage multiple points of view on addressing problems and creating solutions through research, new interventions or programs, practices, or policies.
  • Sustains an interdisciplinary program of scholarship and research, including programmatic outcomes research and quantification of essential operative mechanisms that achieve outcome success.
  • Addressing social determinants of health and improving health system infrastructure through evidence-based advocacy and policy recommendations.
  • facilitating collaboration and synergies among FXB Center's current grant funded programs while contributing to building innovative community-based collaborations and new areas of excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • With the FXB Center Executive Director drives all program strategies, ensuring alignment with Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, creating opportunities for sustained grant funding through the cultivation of new and existing collaborations.
  • With the FXB Center Executive Leadership team, develops a vision and plan to guide the growth of a sustainable research program at FXB Center.
  • Cultivates new and existing relationships to achieve results in alignment with FXB Center vision and mission.
  • Develops and implements strategies that will maximize the synergies among all FXB Center programs, while contributing to building innovative community-based collaborations and new areas of excellence.
  • Participates and contributes as an active member of the FXB Center's Executive Leadership team.
  • Contributes to and advances the missions of the FXB Center and Rutgers School of Nursing.
  • Serves on Doctor of Nursing Practice and PhD Committees, and conducts selected guest lectures at the School of Nursing and related Rutgers Health schools.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • An earned doctorate as a researcher in a health discipline (Nursing, Medicine, Social Work, Psychology or other).
  • Eligible for Associate Professor or full Professor rank.
  • Significant body of existing research, with associated scholarship and extramural grant funding in the areas of population/community health and Family-Centered Care.
  • Evidence mentoring new investigators.
  • A distinctive record of building and sustaining community partnerships.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic health sciences university.
  • A distinctive record of building relationships with scientists across professional disciplines.
  • Significant body of existing research, with associated scholarship and NIH funding in the areas of population/community health and Family-Centered Care.

** To address the current and projected critical shortage of nurse faculty in the State of New Jersey by providing an incentive for persons to enter graduate nursing education programs by offering student loan redemption in exchange for full-time faculty employment at a school of nursing in the State of New Jersey for a five-year period following completion of the approved graduate degree program.

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
