About Madison House
Madison House is an independent, nonprofit organization that serves as the volunteer center for University of Virginia students. We coordinate volunteers, develop leaders, build community partnerships, and promote a lifelong commitment to service among our students. During the 2021-2022 academic year, 1302 volunteers served for a total of over 35,000 hours with our 113 active community partner organizations and sites.
Our Creating Assets Savings and Hope (CASH) program trains UVA students as tax preparers over the fall semester so that they can provide free tax preparation and filing services to community members in the spring. CASH has stayed active even through the pandemic, and now that Madison House is serving as the lead organization for the Cville Tax Aid Coalition, we expect the program to expand its services and deepen its volunteer base significantly.
