Job Description

This position operates under the direct supervision of the Director of Finishing at Ultracraft Cabinets a division of Masterbrand Cabinets.  This position is responsible for continuously improving and sustaining the Finish quality at the Liberty site. The individual will work closely with vendors to analyze and develop best in industry paint, stains, primers, etc. to meet market and production needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Audit finish spray operations adhere to the ASDOT standards.
  • Monitor, review and update new sprayer training per MBCI certification program.
  • Troubleshoot various finish process issues, diagnosing root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Responsible for Audit data review to drive improvement projects.
  • Support continuous improvement by participating in and sustaining the Masterbrand Production System (MPS) - Finish Guide Book processes.
  • Effectively manage Sprayer certification flow chart and sustainment plan.
  • Follow and support safety initiatives and assist in development of safety programs.
  • Maintain and promote positive attitude, teamwork, and cooperation.
  • Data recording, tracking and analysis using Excel and other related programs during audits.
  • Maintains work area consistent with 6S program and training.
  • Leads and participates in as-is and to-be business process design events.
  • Supports the execution of Finishing Operations projects to advance the facilities capabilities in Finish execution, operational control, data collection, management, reporting and analytics, including monitoring project status and driving local activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Collaborates with business partners, IT and vendors to document business, functional and technical requirements.
  • Participates in the functional design and configuration of the solution.
  • Participates in the development process for detailed functional specs in the Finishing process, plant operations and other relevant opportunity areas including reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms.
  • Participates in testing activities to ensure that the solution meets the business requirements and that new functionality and enhancements do not adversely affect existing functionality.
  • Conducts analysis for manufacturing and operational systems and documents results as business requirements and proposed related business process changes.
  • Communicates project status and escalates potential problems to management, users, vendors, and others as appropriate.
  • Continuously challenge past practices by actively exploring and implementing new solutions and methodologies to improve the quality and time to market of our product and services to the company.
  • Train end users to operate new or modified processes and Finishing application procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Must have the knowledge to be able to shade and match colors by using a color standard
  • Must have knowledge of paints, stains, sealers, spray-guns and pots
  • Successful completion of Sprayer Certification testing

Education and/or Experience:

  • 3 years as an engineer in an industrial environment with specialization in spray finishing is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Industrial Coatings applications with a minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with manufacturing operations to develop process controls
