Responsibilities:
- Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance and support during the planning process
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including scheduling, transportation, and preparation of the deceased
- Prepare and embalm bodies according to legal requirements and family preferences
- Arrange for cremations or burials, including coordinating with cemeteries or crematories
- Assist with the selection and purchase of caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise
- Coordinate with clergy, musicians, and other service providers to ensure a smooth and meaningful funeral service
- Provide bereavement support to grieving families
- Handle administrative tasks such as completing death certificates, filing permits, and managing paperwork
Requirements:
- Degree in Mortuary Science or Funeral Service Education preferred
- State licensure as a Funeral Director required
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and embalming techniques
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks such as carrying caskets or moving equipment
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach
- Proficient in event planning and organization
- Knowledge of cosmetology techniques for post-mortem care is a plus
- Sales experience for offering funeral products and services
