Higher Heights is the political home for Black women’s political leadership.  Our work is harnessing the collective organizing power of Black women from the voting booth to elected office.  Black women continue to play a pivotal role in America’s democracy the current moment provides an opportunity to build on Higher Heights' impact to influence elections, elect Black women and advance policies.

Higher Heights is embarking on an ambitious strategy to accelerate our work by building a coalition of a million active and engaged members across this country that we can activate 365 days a year to support and harness Black women’s political power and leadership and advance progressive policies and politics through innovative programming. 

The Fundraising Intern will work with Higher Heights’ leadership to design and execute projects to strategize and support a rapidly growing national organization. 

The Fundraising Intern will provide day-to-day support for the organization’s development campaigns. He/She will help manage development engagement and cultivation. 

Duties include, but are not limited, to the following: 

  • Preparing and staffing for call time for senior leadership
  • Preparing memos for senior leadership
  • Conducting donor research
  • Interns may also be asked to help with long-term projects that may include research projects,
  • Compiling Member bios, and sourcing contact information
  • Attend and staff local fundraising events
  • Assist with database management and reporting

Requirements: 

  • Ability to work independently. 

  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office). 

  • Strong organizational abilities. 

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks. 

The ideal candidate is seeking opportunities to apply their skills to work experience. Preferred majors include Communications, Business, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Women's Studies, and Political Science. Students of color and women are encouraged to apply.

This internship is remote.  Undergraduates are compensated at $17 per hour and recent graduate/fellows are at $20 per hour.

The position requires a candidate to be highly collaborative, to function with a high level of autonomy, and to work on multiple projects at once as well as time-sensitive deadlines.
