Position Summary


This position serves as Manager of the Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund. This role involves a variety of complex functions and responsibilities, including the development of procedures, systems, manuals, and rules to implement the laws governing the Fund and the decisions of the Fund Board of Governors, directs the day-to-day activities related to the administration of the Fund, and oversees the preparation of financial reporting, and management of the Fund’s assets. This position supervises a team of 6 staff members, manages contracts related to the administration of the Fund, and collaborates with a wide variety of entities and stakeholders.

Salary Information


The Fund Manager (Insurance Program Manager) position is assigned to pay schedule/range 81-02. Starting pay for these positions will be between $44.00 – $50.83 per hour, depending on candidate qualifications. This is a Career Executive position and may require a 2-year Career Executive Trial Period. Pay for current state employees will be in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details


Due to the nature of the position, OCI will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. OCI does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.

This position has potential for a combination of remote and in-office work after an initial onboarding period. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

Qualifications


Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:

  • Broad experience in multiple areas within commercial liability insurance operations (e.g., claims and claims management, risk management, policy development, billing, financial reporting, actuarial science and/or ratemaking, underwriting, asset and investment management, etc.)
  • Experience in project management
  • Previous team lead experience

In addition to the above, well-qualified applicants will have at least one of the following:

  • Training or experience with medical malpractice insurance
  • Experience with state contracts and procurement procedures
  • Training or experience with reading and interpreting statutes, administrative code, or other highly technical material
  • Previous supervisory experience
