Coaching Position and Duties. The Coach agrees to be the “Head Coach” of the team and to perform all the duties and services necessary and normally associated with that position, including, without limitation, the following:
- Practices. The Coach agrees to conduct practices and clinics during the term of this Agreement. The number, duration and content of those practices and clinics will be determined by the Coach in the best interests of the team but meeting the minimum requirements for the team pursuant to LUFC’s posted Team Plans. In the event of any dispute between the Team and the Coach concerning the number, duration or content of the practices, the Coach must consult with LUFC’s Director of Coaching, the decision of whom will be final and binding on the Coach pending LUFC Board of Directors approval. In the event that a dispute arises between the Coach and the Director of Coaching, the dispute will be brought to the LUFC Board of Directors for a final decision and outcome.
- Games and Tournaments. In the absence of a personal emergency, the Coach agrees to attend and coach (i) all of the league games scheduled by the Twin Cities Soccer League (“TCSL”) for the team, either as originally scheduled by the TCSL or as rescheduled from time to time and (ii) all of the games scheduled for the team in tournaments sanctioned by the TCSL or another state soccer association and in which the team chooses to participate.
- Travel. The Coach agrees to travel with the Team to out-of-state games and tournaments for which travel is necessary or appropriate. The parents of the children on the team (the “Parent Group”) are solely responsible for reimbursing the Coach for any costs and expenses associated with such travel, and LUFC has no obligation to reimburse the Coach for such costs and expenses. This will be the responsibility of both the Coach and the Team Manager to communicate how these expenses will be reimbursed by the “Parent Group”.
- Training and Meetings. The Coach must attend all meetings, training seminars & clinics required by LUFC. Mandatory attendance at pre-season (winter) coaches clinic. A minimum of 2 hours per season.
Preferred but not required experience:
- Previous experience in sports coaching, particularly in soccer, is preferred
- Knowledge of different coaching methodologies and techniques
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies for working with children and young adults
- Ability to adapt coaching methods to meet the needs of individual players
