SUMMARY
Receives and pays out money, and keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Represents ECU to the membership in a polite, courteous, and professional manner.
Provides prompt, efficient, and accurate service in the processing of member transactions.
Provides routine information on credit union services or policies including membership eligibility, deposit account information, dividend rates, credit union address, hours of operations, telephone and fax numbers and extensions, etc.
Opens and closes computer terminal and accounts for cash transaction; balances terminal to teller close report on a daily basis.
Maintains proper security control over cash drawer at all times.
Balances cash drawer on a daily basis.
Maintains proper cash drawer levels and limits at all times.
Strictly adheres to established cash drawer security procedures.
Monitors lobby and drive up for potential fraud and/or robbery suspects.
Monitors all transactions for counterfeit bills and possible bogus checks at all times.
Coordinates time away from teller station with Supervisor to assure required line teller presence on teller lines at all times.
Receives checks and cash for deposit to share savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for proper endorsements and negotiability, and enters transactions into credit union's computer system via terminal.
Receives payments for loans, ensuring that the payments equal the amount due and that all late charges, if applicable, are collected.
Enters loan payments into credit union's computer system via terminal.
Provides members with receipt for deposits, withdrawals, and payment transactions.
Understands and applies appropriated Regulation D rules regarding telephone check withdrawal requests to third parties.
Understands and applies appropriate holds on deposits according to Regulation CC and gives member with appropriate disclosure.
Understands and applies appropriate rules under Bank Secrecy Act on cash deposits and withdrawals.
Performs entries into various General Ledger accounts as requested by ECU staff members.
Disburses cash and check withdrawals from checking accounts upon proper identification.
Cashes checks presented upon proper identification.
Processes loose coin for members and shipment to bank.
Performs cash advances for credit cards and line of credit loans.
Transfers loan payments and savings deposits.
Provides and assists members with forms necessary to conduct business with ECU.
Maintains an appropriate level of supplies for member use in lobby.
Receives various information pertaining to members' account and routes to proper department for processing.
Processes and posts incoming mail transactions.
Provides members with account status, including current balances and loan payoffs.
Assists members with discrepancies on statements and complaints.
Prepares form letters for members concerning inquiries on transactions directly affecting their accounts.
Provides members with copies of their statements.
Assists members with statement problems and/or checking account problems.
Assists in the inventory of traveler's checks, money orders, and promotional tickets as applicable.
Encodes temporary checks at member’s request.
Opens and distributes incoming mail to appropriate departments.
Cross-sells other credit union services.
Receives and routes check orders to appropriate department personnel.
Processes address changes on member accounts.
Files membership signature cards.
Assists in operation of film and imaging machines.
Researches account histories/information on microfilm/fiche, electronic imaging, and D-Save on credit union's computer system.
Assists in mailing out loan payments as required.
Must be able to lift bagged coin and heavy cash drawers.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintains ongoing communications with Supervisor, informing them of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information within area of responsibility.
Cooperates with other department personnel to ensure a "team effort" and prompt member service.
Provides members with information and answers to questions regarding their accounts and services offered at the credit union. Distributes any legally required disclosure documents.
Follows safety and security rules and regulations.
Maintains integrity and privacy (security) of system passwords and PIN(s).
Ensures that all information and transactions regarding credit union operations and members are kept confidential.
Maintains the security of the work area and keeps it organized and neat in appearance.
Maintains current knowledge of credit union philosophy, plus all credit union services and policies.
Cross-sells credit union products and services.
Participates in continuing education as approved by Senior Management.
Maintains a professional and courteous attitude with all people, including fellow employees, members, management staff, board members, and outside vendors.
Protects and respects credit union equipment and supplies.
Attends meetings as required.
Adheres to ECU Employee Personnel Policy Handbook.
Performs other duties as assigned by Senior Management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
