Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Success Coach Manager, the Success Coach serves as the student’s main point of contact throughout their academic journey and plays a pivotal, intensive, and active role in all program delivery modalities offered at Nicolet College. This role focuses on student success, program completion, and career development by utilizing a holistic, student-centered approach. The Success Coach works to get to know each student as an individual by learning about personal and professional roles, responsibilities, goals, and challenges, and collaboratively builds a plan with each student to achieve their academic goals. Work is performed at various locations across campus, face to face, virtually, and online.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

(List is not all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned.)
Success Coaching and Holistic Support
•Prepare and conduct coaching sessions to assist students in their educational and career journey. Conduct intake and assessments to identify student needs, challenges, and barriers. Build rapport and trust with students to support successful program completion. Serve as student mentor, advocate, and primary on-campus support.
•Help each student develop a success plan that sets realistic expectations for time management, degree completion, and balancing pre-existing responsibilities and commitments with academics.
•Provide interventions and strategies to support students through a variety of academic and non-academic challenges. Support students in accessing on and off-campus resources.
•Develop an action plan to monitor academic progress of each student, using various tools such as the learning management system and instructor feedback. Develop intervention strategies to assist students in their development. Teach students effective decision-making, problem-solving, and self-advocacy skills. Conduct regular follow-up with program students.
•Create clear and concise case notes, accurately documenting all student coaching interactions in college-designated case notes platform.
•Respond to alerts submitted in the early alert management system in a timely fashion. Engage in a team approach with faculty, academic support staff, and other Success Coaches to serve individual student needs.
•Provide coaching and support services that promote diversity and promote equity.
Academic Plan Guidance
•Evaluate available student data prior to registration, perform transcript evaluations, recommend transfer equivalencies, and maintain knowledge of transfer articulations.
•Review and interpret entrance test results and assist each student through the enrollment process and make accurate course placement.
•Complete all required administrative tasks associated with registration, case management, referrals, graduation, and other activities as required or requested.
•Collaborate with Deans and faculty in coaching students. Maintain a thorough understanding of the curriculum, course sequence, and graduation requirements for assigned Nicolet academic offerings.
•Assist students in transferring to other educational institutions. Research and utilize transfer tools and systems to ensure course transferability to other institutions. Work collaboratively with the Nicolet Transfer Coordinator, as well as advisors and transfer coordinators from other colleges.
Continuous Quality Improvement
•Identify, improve, and update processes to better serve the needs of students; collaborate with various departments and employees to evaluate, modify, and execute policies and procedures as needed.
•Work closely with employees and campus services to execute the best possible plan for student success.
•Act as an advocate for the College and the Wisconsin Technical College System.
•Remain current on professional development by participating in staff meetings, WTC system-called meetings, and other professional development opportunities.
•Lead and serve on college teams to create and execute better processes to serve Nicolet students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of Success Coaching and/or various advising models.
•Knowledge of student privacy laws and regulations, with ability to use discretion when handling sensitive information and situations.
•Core practice skills such as active listening, use of open-ended questions, summarizing, and reframing, with the ability to be creative and generate enthusiasm for students.
•Excellent analytical, written, verbal, interpersonal communications, and technology skills.
•Exceptional customer service and relationship building skills.
•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, prioritize multiple requests, and work in a fast-paced environment while providing attention to detail.
•Ability to work effectively with students of various ages, learning styles, academic levels, and cultural backgrounds.

•The employee must demonstrate strong attention to detail and must be able to perform complex tasks without error.
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to normal office conditions and usual office equipment such as telephone, computer, printers/copiers, reports, and files.
•The employee will be constantly required to sit, talk, hear, and type/write.
•The employee will be frequently required to stand, walk, touch/handle/grasp (using hands and fingers), and reach with hands and arms.
•The employee must occasionally bend or squat and lift and/or push up to 10 pounds of general office items.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, far, and field of vision.
•This position requires regular and punctual employee presence.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree.
•Two years’ work experience in education, counseling, career development, or student support.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master’s degree in related field.
•Experience working in higher education or related field.

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Includes a comprehensive benefits package.
