Full Time Skilled Gardener/Horticulturist

SKILLED GARDENER/HORTICULTURIST (Seattle)

Starting pay $21-23/hour. DOE. Full time Monday through Friday with benefits package

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Artful Garden, a design, installation and maintenance company located in Seattle, is seeking an experienced horticulturist/gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will be interested in a long-term role, and have the horticultural knowledge to work with a diverse array of plants. This position will require hands-on gardening with the potential to develop into specialized tasks and responsibilities. The position is based in a home office near Columbia City; clients are located throughout the greater Seattle area and Eastside. Come grow with us!

REQUIRED:

• Minimum of 1-2 years professional industry experience working as a gardener, in a retail nursery, or equivalent
• Able to work alone, or with a team, to complete tasks according to direction given and exercise independent judgment to ensure customer satisfaction
• Superb customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including basic smart phone and computer skills
• Ability to track and keep on top of tasks and to see a task through to completion
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Able to maintain a positive attitude while working at a fast-pace and motivate others
• Basic horticultural knowledge and familiarity with perennials, annuals, ornamental trees and shrubs (basic identification, care, pruning) commonly used in Pacific Northwest landscapes
• General knowledge of native plants and edibles
• General knowledge of pruning techniques, soils, pests, and plant diseases
• Willing to work outside in all seasons and weather conditions
• Able to work on your feet for almost 8 hours and able to lift at least 50 pounds on a daily basis
• Reliable transportation

PREFERRED:

• Experience managing employees
• Experience with Google Suite (Sheets, Forms, Etc)
• Familiarity with greater Seattle area
• Ability to drive a manual transmission. Will need to learn if not skilled.
