Full Time Public Works Laborer

Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Public Works Laborer to assist in the responsibilities required to maintain City of Van Meter streets, property and equipment as well as assist with water and sewer functions.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in all maintenance activities on City streets, sidewalks and curbs such as grading, construction, repair or reconstruction
- Maintain all City signs, signals, crosswalks and parking markings
- Snow Removal as needed
- Property maintenance of City buildings
- Trimming & mowing of City property including the Van Meter Cemetery

- Assist in water system operations

- Assist in sewer system operations

Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent. Preference given to applicants with a post-secondary degree in leisure/rec services or related field or equivalent experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Certified in Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

- Must participate and be able to pass a drug & alcohol screening
- Must be able to obtain Water Distribution, Water Treatment and Wastewater certifications with allowable timeframes as set by the City of Van Meter and Iowa DNR

Pay: $45,000.00 - $49,000.00 per year
