  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and a positive image throughout the facility
  • Maintains a clean, attractive and safe environment in assigned areas by performing a variety of appropriate cleaning, transport, equipment handling, room set-up, trash removal, and linen handling duties.

  • Understands responsibilities concerning infection control, safety, and health; to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times
  • Assumes responsibility in supporting the Housekeeping Supervisor in promoting and maintaining positive employee relations and effective communications among facility staff
  • Excellent customer service skill when dealing with, residents, staff and visitors
  • Work as part of a team that strives to make all elements of the environment as positive as possible for all residents and their visitors.
  • Clean driving record and driver’s license is a must

Background/Qualifications

1. Responsible for the bagging, carting and disposing of all trash in assigned areas, daily pickup and disposal of all recyclables from the apartment hallways.

2. Conduct daily/weekly/monthly inspections of the facility, including vehicles, associated waste handling and safety equipment, and waste containers

3. Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing floors, equipment and furniture according to infection-control policies.

4. Operates a variety of manual, battery, and electrical housekeeping equipment (such as Vacuum Cleaners, Burnishers, Extractors, Scrubbers, Washers, Dryers, Carts, Trash Sterilizers, Compactors) to perform cleaning operations throughout the facility

5. Handles chemicals and materials associated with cleaning (such as but not limited to soaps, solvents, waxes, stripping solutions, window and surface cleaners).

6. Prepares linen for use and place on patient care equipment, removes and properly contains soiled linen, removes damaged linen from facility, and transports linen throughout the facility.

7. Removes, transports and disposes of regular, biohazard, and any other waste products within and throughout the healthcare environment from origination point to disposal location

8. Responsible for the proper clean-up of all spills, by following OSHA standards (i.e., blood, urine, feces, vomit, etc.)

9. Must be very thorough with cleaning practices and adhere to infection control to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times

10. Responsible for the cleaning, vacuuming, extracting carpeting, buffing floors of specifically assigned areas of the facility.

11. Responsible for cleaning internal and external campus property as assigned.

12. Responsible for keeping guest rooms clean and stocked.

13. Assist with snow removal, sanding of assigned areas and other seasonal tasks as directed.

14. Responsible for set-up of various conference and meeting room furniture and support equipment for all events

15. Keeps the Supervisor and/or other departments aware of potential problems with the environment or residents that need attention.

16. Responsible for completing work orders and other assignment project in a timely matter

17. Performs minor maintenance tasks (e.g., light bulb replacement, tightening toilet seats, etc.)

18. Cross-trains to assist department in other areas as needed; cleaning of patient rooms, isolation rooms, nursing stations, lounges, restrooms, offices, common areas, laundry rooms, resident moves, and other areas assigned

19. Picks up supplies and maintains inventory accordingly.

20. Works under limited supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.

21. Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift (preventive maintenance) and/or process issues ability to perform work

Special Requirements/Education

  • A pleasant and courteous demeanor when dealing with peers, supervisors, guest, patients, residents and management.
  • Experience providing cleaning services in the healthcare, hospital, hospitality or similar industry preferred
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while dealing with demanding customers
  • A high school diploma and a minimum of one-year experience in housekeeping
  • Basic computer skills and use of a company tablet are required.
