About the Position
Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to help develop digital products end to end and deploy data driven applications that drive better process performance across a global company? The Data Science & Analytics group at the Goodyear Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio is looking for an experienced developer in Full Stack Technologies to partner with data scientists to derive valuable insights from our expansive data sources and help develop data-driven solutions for important business applications across the company.
Since its inception, the Data Science portfolio of projects continues to grow and includes areas of tire manufacturing, operations, business, and technology. The people in our Data Science group come from a broad range of backgrounds: Mathematics; Statistics; Cognitive Linguistics; Astrophysics; Biology; Computer Science; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering; and of course - Data Science. This diverse group works together to develop innovative tools and methods for simulating, modeling, and analyzing complex processes throughout our company. We'd like you to help us build the next generation of data driven applications for the company and be a part of the Data Science team.
This is a HYBRID opportunity with (a minimum of) 2 days per week onsite at our Akron facility.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop front-end and back-end applications focusing on user experience for web and mobile digital products using Python, JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3, Web API, and other UI technologies and frameworks.
- Building and deploying responsive web applications that are focused on ease-of-use, task-driven functionality, and a consistent user experience across multiple devices and operating systems.
- Help develop code for data driven applications and simulations that target optimized process performance.
- Work with our technical partners and plants to prepare new data streams for applications.
- Support the deployment of new technologies within the organization.
- Work closely with our data scientists to learn about data science technologies and gain hands-on technical experience.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or similar technical field, required.
- Or, in lieu of degree 8 or more years of experience designing/delivering applications.
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience writing full-stack applications in a fast-paced production environment, preferably in Python or C++.
- Experience translating feature requirements and design specifications into technical use cases.
Additional qualifications:
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of software design skills and methodologies (algorithms, data structures, design patterns, software architecture).
- Ability to translate feature requirements and technical design into a working implementation.
Skills and Abilities
- Good teamwork skills - ability to work in a team environment and deliver results on time.
- Strong communication skills - capable of conveying information concisely to diverse audiences.
