WHO WE ARE:
School Gig, is an innovative service committed to delivering arts education to every school and student in California. Born from a collaboration between Jammcard, a social network for professional musicians, the Prop 28 steering committee (Prop 28 approved $1B every year for arts education in California public schools), and Austin Beutner, the author of Prop 28, School Gig is on a mission to bring the arts to all 6 million kids in California public schools. With the overwhelming approval of Prop 28 in November 2022, securing $1 billion in arts funding for California public schools indefinitely, our goal is to ensure that this funding enhances every public school in California through the presence of dedicated arts educators.

The Role:
As the Lead Full Stack Developer at School Gig, you'll spearhead engineering and architectural decisions. Your role involves seamless collaboration with our engineering team in Serbia and our internal cross-functional School Gig team to shape user outcomes and achieve business goals. You'll also play a pivotal role in envisioning the future of the School Gig application, currently built on a microservices architecture with a Java backend and an Angular frontend.
What You'll Do:
Collaborate with the GM and Product Lead to roadmap, prioritize, and generate innovative ideas.
Act as the internal engineering point of contact when liaising with our contract engineers.
Make crucial architectural decisions for the application's future.
Communicate engineering and architectural choices effectively to stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
Possess 5+ years of experience working on a modern web stack.
Exhibit versatility, comfortable navigating both legacy applications and starting from scratch.
Have experience in a small team within a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with a highly cross-functional team (product, design, marketing, sales).
Ability to self-organize and be self-accountable.
Stay informed about emerging trends in software development.
It’s a plus if you:
Have successfully rearchitected a legacy codebase using a modern stack.
Possesses domain knowledge related to building productivity software and supporting a martech stack.
Have hands-on experience with microservices architecture.
Are proficient with Java and Angular.
This is a full-time contracting engagement. The national pay range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and location.
