Position Title Fueling Dragons Coordinator FLSA FT/PT Full Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Work Schedule M-F Grade 13 Minimum Compensation General Responsibilities
The Fueling Dragons Coordinator will focus on providing access to healthy food for HCC students develop educational programming on the importance on nutrition and create campus and community partnerships in supporting students healthy choices and basic needs. This position will oversee and coordinate all aspects of expanding the services of the food pantry, including expanding community food pantry donors and partners, coordinating workshops for students, and coordinating the healthy recipe and meal kit program.
Work Performed
Food Pantry
  • Oversee the pantry operation making sure we are stocking the pantry with healthy foods, developing systems for inventory and tracking needed data
  • Hire, train and supervise part-time, hourly food staff pantry manger and food pantry associate
  • Hire, train and supervise federal work study student and interns to assist in the panty
  • Coordinate with the HCC gardener on availability of fresh produce and communicate with students about the availability
  • Coordinate and manage a volunteer program on a weekly basis
  • Provide food pantry coverage for approximately six hours per week
Food Donations
  • Prepare a sustainability plan for ensuring food and personal care product availability to students year-round
  • Act as the point of contact with the Maryland Food Bank, attend training, and manage and place food orders in conjunction with the SWAP program
  • Coordinate with the HCC gardener prior to placing the Maryland Food Bank order
  • Provide outreach to potential sources, including grocery stores and community groups for food drives to supplement the pantry
  • Provide outreach to food distributors for donations to supplement meal kits
Cooking Seminars, Recipe Cards, and Meal Kits
  • Coordinate with potential partners to plan activities to support access to healthy foods
  • Work with the Wellness Center to have recipes developed based on upcoming Maryland Food Bank orders
  • Work with University of Maryland Extension to plan food demos and workshops
  • Coordinate with the HCC gardener to plan which produce items will be available in upcoming months for cooking sessions and available for recipes
  • Plan to have a set number of meal kits available each month for distribution
Outreach and Marketing
  • Work with key cohort and service leaders on campus to make sure everyone is aware of the food pantry, recipe cards, and meal kits
  • Develop a communication plan for messaging who utilize the pantry

  • Work with the foundation office to provide data and grant reports and assist with grant reports
Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 2 Other Knowledge Required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of marketing/outreach
  • Strong written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Solid organizational skills including multi-tasking and time management
  • Analytical and Problem solving skills

  • Proficient in use of MS Office Suite(Access, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Word)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage multiple priorities while providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively handle a multitude of con-current projects and programs

As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
