Fuel Coordinator (Fleet Services Coordinator)

As a Fuel Coordinator, you'll be a primary liaison between City Fleet management services and external stakeholders providing fuel to City Fleet operations.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
  • Administer the City's fuel supply program, including bulk fuel, mobile fuel and retail fuel
  • Monitor bulk fuel inventories and place bulk fuel orders
  • Monitor bulk fuel alarms and take corrective action as required
  • Manage bulk fuel contracts
  • Administer the mobile fuel program. Act as the point-of contact for the mobile fuel contractor.
  • Administer the retail fuel program. Submit retail fuel sales tax refunds with the State of Colorado
  • Perform monthly UST and AST inspections as mandated by the State of Colorado
  • Ensure the City is in compliance with State rules and regulations as related to USTs
  • Perform light maintenance on fuel island equipment
  • Schedule contractors to perform other fuel island repairs and maintenance
  • Manage Fleet's fuel quality control program
  • Manage Fleet's winter diesel program
  • Process fuel invoices for payment
  • Enter data into the Fleet Maintenance database (AssetWorks M5)
  • Produce reports from the Fleet Maintenance database, analyze fuel data
  • Assist in fuel budget preparation
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
  • At least three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field, such as contract management, fuel program administration, fuel station operation and UST/AST/fuel environmental compliance
  • Possess, or obtain within 12 months, a Colorado Class C UST Inspector's Certification
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
One (1) year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.
The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
