The ABB Way Finance Transformation Program (FTP) is a business-led program that will help to underpin the new ABB Way operating model and decentralization agenda. It is a key step in reinforcing global end-to-end processes and revolutionizing our finance organization to deliver sustainable benefits for ABB.

We are looking for a global Financial Planning Workstream Lead who will be an integral part of the Plan to Deliver (P2D) process under the ABB Way FTP. Financial Planning is a Core process owned by the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) organization and this critical role is an opportunity to Build the Future of ABB Finance in close collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders across the organization.

As Financial Planning Workstream Lead, you will be responsible for future-proofing our Financial Planning and forecasting capabilities. Key objectives in this role are to design and implement the standardization of core planning activities. This includes the implementation of new systems and tools facilitating both agility and depth of analysis related to ABB’s operational and financial performance. Providing thought leadership on the data-harmonization and integration of both financial and non-financial data leveraged across the company for planning and performance management purposes.

We are looking for someone to set the vision of being best in class, to build a multi-year roadmap and to lead tactical execution by partnering with various functions, business, corporate and program stakeholders. Activities will be executed in alignment with FTP, will include but not be limited to:

•Defining and refining the target process, data and roadmap for planning activities across short (1 Quarter), mid (5 Quarter) and long-term (3-5 year) time horizons
•Driving change and addressing existing pain points related our planning & forecasting processes (globally and locally) in close collaboration with the FTP project team and supported by a diverse stakeholder group of business and functional leaders.
•Identifying commonalities and standardization opportunities across the various operating models of our global divisions
•Leading the design and governance of working with internal and external data to improve the speed and analysis relevant to performance management
•Leading specific projects to improve operational efficiency and develop understanding of the critical to quality actions needed to support ABB’s planning processes in the future

The role establishes a cycle of innovation, harmonization, and continuous improvement, via the integration of data supporting our planning processes.

The workstream lead will collaborate closely with Corporate FP&A, Businesses and Finance Transformation Program team members. This role will report into Plan to Deliver Process leader in the FTP.

Your responsibilities

  • Act as a Global Expert and Thought Leader for Financial Planning/forecasting activities at ABB under the finance transformation program.
  • Support continuous planning process improvement for ABB including the implementation of new systems and tools. Drive the creation of an aligned vision and governance framework encompassing data, system tools and resources across the organization.
  • Drive finalization of key and operational design decisions to enable the build of the core Financial Planning and forecasting process.
  • Lead subsequent implementation and roll-out of the planning and forecasting processes in line with the newly defined process and system architecture.
  • Keep documentation on planning and forecasting processes up to date and ensuring all interfaces with different management organizations are captured and reflected in process documentation. Align data governance structures across finance, sustainability, and human resources teams by defining workflows and accountability frameworks to reinforce both data and forecast quality.
  • Organize and run related workshops with key stakeholders to ensure understanding, engagement, and alignment.
  • Facilitate and ensure best practices are leveraged and scaled where applicable, driving strong working relationships with Business Finance community and functional partners.

Your background

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Finance & Operational Planning including FP&A function of a Global organization.
  • Master’s level degree in Finance, Engineering or Data Science.
  • Strong finance acumen, complimented with process thinking; ability to deal with ambiguity and to use a structured approach to problem solving.
  • Experience with performance management processes, data and systems design, organizing, and running workshops. Interdisciplinary thinking skills required.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into functional and data specificities and assess the impact of data decisions on the creation and generation of high-quality forecasts including scenarios.
  • An agile, strategic thinker with excellent communication and presentation skills. Able to translate a global vision into action plans related to aligning data, process, and purpose for collective success.
  • Experience with delivering change through project management and continuous improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across functions and organizational hierarchies.
  • A great team player, open-minded and with an entrepreneurial approach, result-oriented and enthusiastic about your work. Highly adaptable, with ability to prioritize and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Fluent in English
