Front of House Counter Person and Expo
Job Overview:
As a Front of House employee at Cleo Bagels, you will be the friendly face and efficient hands that ensure a positive customer experience. You'll be responsible for handling customer orders, managing transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized counter area. This position requires excellent customer service skills, a knack for multitasking, a strong work ethic, and a passion for fostering a welcoming atmosphere in our shop.
Responsibilities:
- Customer Service:
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanor ensuring a positive first impression.
- Take customer orders and provide recommendations as needed.
- Ensure prompt and accurate order fulfillment.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Ability to provide customers with options and an experience tailored to their tastes.
- Order Management:
- Prepare and assemble bagel orders according to customer preferences.
- Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared and bagged correctly.
- Balance managing Online Ordering and in-person orders efficiently.
- Cash Handling:
- Process customer transactions accurately using cash registers or point-of-sale systems.
- Handle cash, credit, and other forms of payment accurately and securely.
- Provide correct change and receipts.
- Maintaining Cleanliness:
- Keep the counter area and service areas clean and organized to best support your team and the overall flow of business.
- Assist in maintaining overall cleanliness of the bagel shop.
- Monitor and restock grocery items and supplies as needed.
- Support with cleaning the Front of House area at the end of each shift.
- Product Knowledge:
- Stay informed about our baked goods, spreads, and menu items.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of our menu while providing accurate information about ingredients and allergens to customers.
- Make recommendations based on customer preferences, tastes, and input.
- Team Collaboration:
- Communicate and work closely with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate customer feedback and concerns to the Front of House Lead and Owner.
- Support your teammates by offering assistance when necessary.
- Use ‘downtime’ collaboratively and effectively to stay prepared for busier times of the day.
- Gain experience to better anticipate the needs of the day and your coworkers to better ensure a smooth workday.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for accurate order processing.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and reach when necessary.
Schedule:
- Full time 32-40 hours a week (Wednesday through Sunday) including weekends and holidays, based on the needs of the bagel shop.
