Job description

Reporting to the Concert Office Manager, the Front of House Coordinator will oversee the Front of House operations for public and private events at Peabody Institute's Baltimore campus and the Washington, DC performance space, and will assist the Concert Office Manager with general administrative duties.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities


Implement ticketing policies and procedures

  • Monitor seat holds and venue capacities for events at the Peabody Baltimore campus and the DC location.
  • Manage online ticket sales for ticketed events for both the Baltimore and DC performance spaces.
  • Respond promptly to patron inquiries for all public performances.


Manage student usher and box office crew for all performance venues

  • Hire and train student ushers twice a year (once per semester).
  • Create and distribute weekly schedules, assigning ushers to shifts as needed, approving shift trades, ensuring proper staffing levels for events.
  • Maintain usher handbook and communicate all changes and updates to policies.
  • Approve weekly payroll for student ushers.
  • Print weekly Event Info sheets for head ushers for all events.


Oversee public spaces and crowd flow

  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order in all public areas of Peabody.
  • Ensure Front of House readiness for events and emergencies.
  • Oversee lobby signage for public events.
  • Monitor and replenish Front of House supplies, including signage, attendance clickers, flashlights, lobby chimes and forms.
  • Maintain ADA, First Aid and CPR compliance.


Maintain Internal and Public Information for Staff, Faculty, Students and Patrons

  • Review and ensure accuracy of event listings on the public and internal listings, including information about tickets, live streams, parking, accessibility, etc.
  • Work with the Ensemble Office, Concert Office and Preparatory to manage seating kills, reservations, and capacities for individual performances.
  • Attend weekly Events Meeting and maintain Front of House details in ArtsVision, including staffing support needed, seat reservations, capacities, and schedules.


Onsite management of events

  • Work select events throughout the year, managing student ushers, the box office and acting as the main point of contact for patrons in attendance.
  • Provide event coverage for all events at the DC space, managing ushers, the box office.


Administrative Assistance for Concert Office

  • Assist with administering contracts, issuing payments, and booking travel and hotel for guest artists.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Superior communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students.
  • Strong organization and management skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • One year of professional experience in ticketing or Front of House operations.
  • One year of professional experience in customer service.
  • Experience supervising employees in a professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience in ticketing or Front of House operations in the performing arts.
  • Experience in implementing operating policies and procedures.
  • Experience hiring, scheduling, and training a staff.
