Job description

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 2+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience
Amazon SageMaker Studio is the world’s first fully integrated development environment tailored for machine learning, and is growing rapidly to be the tool of choice for machine learning scientists and practitioners all around the world. All ML development activities including notebooks, experiment management, automatic model creation, debugging, and model and data drift detection can be performed within SageMaker Studio. While experimenting with different combination of inputs to fine tune models, users can launch an experiment leaderboard alongside their notebooks to track, sort, and rank all the experiments. Amazon SageMaker Studio supports many popular frameworks for deep learning such as TensorFlow, Apache MXNet, PyTorch, and more. We are looking for talented Front-end engineers to build brand new new features for Studio and increase adoption of the product.
Key job responsibilities
As a front-end engineer on the Amazon SageMaker Studio team, you’ll own the new studio user experience and platform. You will build/support state-of-the art features on the Studio web-based platform, including building and maintaining a fully federated environment which spans across 10 other partner teams. You will build and maintain Studio as a Single pane of glass for the AI/ML customers of AWS. With the Studio Web Application users can create experiments, build and evaluate models, debug performance issues, compare experiments, and deploy models. Your team's mission is to provide a simple, intuitive, highly scalable and collaborative solution which supports data scientists and ML engineers perform end to end AI/ML tasks and also work collaboratively across the organization. You will also be a key driver to build integrated features to expand the AI/ML capabilities and for integrating new LL model capabilities onto the Studio Application.
A day in the life
You will be responsible for translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables with the design, development, testing, and deployment of highly scalable distributed services. You will also partner with other ML teams to help invent, implement, and connect sophisticated algorithms to our cloud based engines. Prior domain knowledge including AI and ML is preferred, though not required. However, strong motivation to learn ML and AI is critical for successful candidates.
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Designing, developing and maintaining core system features, services and engines
  • Helping define product features, design UX features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product
  • Working with external customers, scientists and other engineers to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility
  • Operating in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
