Job description

Accommodates guests of hotel while displaying the highest standards of quality guest service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Responsible for counting cash, and maintaining accuracy of issued cash drawer at the beginning and end of each scheduled shift.

Daily checks the Front Desk log for problems, special requests, etc.

Greets, registers, and assigns rooms to guests.

Issues room keys and escort instructions to the Bellhop.

Transmits and receives telephone messages when necessary.

Works closely with the reservations department to ensure arrival dates on reservations are correct.

Communicates all information to the following shift to ensure a smooth transition.

Works closely with all hotel departments to ensure the highest quality of customer service.

Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services; registration of guests; and shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions. Explains in-room and hotel features.

Responsible for completing all required shift paperwork and reports as assigned by management.

Responsible for completing all end of shift cash closing procedures.

Keeps records of room availability and guests’ accounts.

Computes bill, collects payment, and makes changes for guests.

Makes and confirms reservations.

Posts charges such as room, food, liquor, or telephone to ledger.

Completes daily-required shift checklists.

Must wear required uniform. Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

Performs other duties as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous Hilton Front Desk experience PREFERRED.

Previous Hotel Front Desk REQUIRED.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience. Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

TRAINING NEEDS:

Training in providing quality guest service, telephone etiquette skills.
