In preparation of anticipated openings for the 2023-2024 school year, applications are being accepted for the position of Assistant Principal 10.75 months with Mesa Public Schools.
ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 10.75 MONTHS

Applications are being accepted for the position of Assistant Principal 10.75 months with the Mesa Unified School District. This position is designed to provide administrative support to elementary and junior high schools. The Assistant Principal will be split equally between two elementary schools or one junior high school, the job will vary in contract amount depending upon the needs of each school, and school locations that may vary from year to year. The beginning salary placement for this position is approximately $79,155, dependent upon preparation and like experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and supervise student extracurricular programs.
  • Assist the principal in the general administration of the school and assume the role and responsibility for the principal in his/her absence.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the instructional program, helping to provide leadership for implementation of Arizona academic standards addressed in the District's curriculum.
  • Assist in maintaining student discipline
  • Administer school rules regarding attendance
  • Assist in the evaluations of classified and certificated staff
  • Assist in the selection of school personnel
  • Coordinate the master calendar for student activities, athletic events, and facility usage
  • Provide for the health and safety of students and staff
  • Oversee the coordination of student funds
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • State of Arizona administrative certification completed or in progress
  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience
  • Leadership experience at school and/or district level
  • Emphasis will be given to evidence about the applicant which indicates:
    1. Knowledge of Arizona academic standards and ability to interpret test data to improve instruction and achievement.
    2. Effective professional relationships with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community.
    3. Educational leadership in the profession through membership and participation in the community and in the professional organizations as well as activities with students, teachers, community and individual projects.
    4. Strong organizational ability in all aspects of educational programs.
    5. Skill in effective decision making.
    6. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and student body.
    7. Forward-looking in educational views and evidence of a willingness to accept change.
    8. Demonstrated competence in planning and developing educational facilities.
