Freight Coordinator

MUST HAVE COORDINATING EXPERIENCE

Qualifications

• Proven experience in transportation planning, or logistics
• Strong Knowledge of logistics and supply chain operations
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient in using computer systems including Microsoft Office as well as 3rd party software
• Previous experience in scrap operations a major advantage

Responsibilities

• Stay updated on industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvement
• Plan and optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency
• Monitor and resolve any issues or delays in the transportation process
• This position is responsible for coordinating all facets of the logistics functions to meet the demands and ensure the proper flow of scrap within a high paced scrap yard
• Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, negotiating rates and contracts
• The position involves a very high level of organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment
• Scheduling and routing of internal trucks, owner operators and 3rd party brokers to meet customer, vendor and internal requirements
• Daily coordination with Operations, Scale House, Truck Drivers, Vendors and Customers
• Strategic planning to improve current processes, reduce costs and increase efficiency
• Monitor contracts and provide trucks, railcars and containers to assist operations in fulfillment of orders within terms and timelines
• Source new carriers, negotiate rates, conclude contracts and audit carrier bills
• Process import/export documentation
• Maintain DOT records and complete required DOT filings

Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
