Freelance Videographer Video Editor

VIDEOGRAPHER/VIDEO EDITOR

We are searching for an experienced Freelance Videographer and Video Editor who is skilled in documentary and news formats. The expectation is you would become a full-time contract employee in the future.

Individuals with PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE  in TV news or legal videography will be given immediate consideration. You must have compassion for our clients and the stomach for shooting in hospitals, rehabs and nursing homes. This is NOT for the faint of heart.

The ideal candidate can take instruction, (we will train in our shooting and editing style) and apply that style too projects from raw footage to completion. Having your own gear is not necessary because you will use our equipment. The potential candidate has a sharp visual talent with attention to detail. Organization cannot be stressed enough! Must be willing to work with other contract employees to maintain our signature brand consistency.

The perfect person works well independently in our Chicago office or the field and can readily take instruction from our VP/office manager who shares all responsibility with the owner for video editing and assignments. You must be articulate, even tempered, be able to think on your feet and deal with our demanding professional clients. This is a casual work environment but neat appearance, teamwork, and attitude matter.

REQUIREMENTS - YOU MUST LIVE IN CHICAGO OR SURROUNDING SUBURBS -

1. Bachelor’s Degree with preferred major in film/video, TV NEWS/ journalism or equivalent

2. Minimum 3 years work experience preferably with tv/journalism background

3. Ability to light and shoot a visually interesting interview with minimal setup time

4. Familiarity with a a variety of cameras, and the ability to learn new equipment quickly

5. A passion for what you do, and the drive to continually push yourself to create great work

6. Video reel of your work

7 Proficient in Adobe Premier and Photoshop a must. Knowledge of After Effects a plus

8. A non-compete agreement must be signed

9. Willing to take a drug test

10. References from former employers

COMPENSATION

Contract employee – hours vary. Salary commensurate with experience. Per hour to be discussed. 1099 form issued at year end.

Please note AGAIN,  we are not considering anyone who lives out of state. You must live in Chicago or a Chicago suburb within reasonable commuting distance to the city. This is a practical thing for both of us.
