What You Would Get To Do:

In this capacity, the ideal candidate would represent the FIRST brand as a Freelance Technician for a well-known technology company. The freelance Technician will be responsible for executing the technical production for events requiring support with Audio/Video, staging, and lighting needs. As a freelancer we may require you to exhibit a flexible skill set to support systems outside of your expertise, while making use of your specific talents.

For events, the goal is to provide a seamless technology experience to all attendees, press and partners, as well as create a more efficient and reliable technical environment for event staff and vendors. In this role you'll work with internal teams as well as external clients and vendor partners on a daily basis.

Your Overall Contributions

  • Support event set up, rehearsal and strike of Audio, Video, Camera, and Lighting equipment as needed, including system routing and troubleshooting
  • Provide advanced audio, video, lighting or camera support during live events, broadcast, and recordings.
  • Operate event production equipment as needed including but not limited to Yamaha CL 3 or 5, ETC CS20-AV lighting console, Ross Carbonite, etc
  • Provide full event production support including but not limited to forwarding slide decks, video playback, live stream support, graphic support, multi camera operation, etc
  • Ability to work well with others in a high pressure environment
  • Advanced understanding of audio and video signal flows
  • Basic editing of video footage to provide clients with recordings of their event
  • Provide white glove customer service to clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to work early / late shifts, and weekends

Video Specific Contribution could include:

  • Operate video production switchers at an advanced level to deliver a high quality video presentation experiences for live events, broadcasts, live streams, and recordings.
  • Manage video assets for use during live events, broadcast, live streams and recordings.
  • Key in lower thirds, graphic overlays, banners, logos, PIP's, closed captioning, animations, green screen support, etc for use on live events, broadcast, etc
  • Utilize Ventuz or Watchout to manage how content is displayed on custom LED Walls

Audio Specific Contributions could include:

  • Operate audio consoles at an advanced level to deliver a high quality audio experience for live events, broadcasts, live streams, and recordings.
  • Support in the role of "A2" mic'ing up presenters/ monitoring frequency as needed
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting for audio consoles, audio signal flow, Dante network, etc

Camera Specific Contributions could include:

  • Operate PTZ cameras as needed at an advanced level to deliver a high quality video presentation experiences for live events, broadcasts, live streams, and recordings.
  • Take direction from in-studio or remote Technical Director to compose and take high quality shots during events and recordings utilizing PTZ camera controls.
  • White balance, calibrate, and shade all cameras for seamless high quality images across all cameras

Lighting Specific Contributions could include:

  • Execute scene shifts and show cues in a safe and timely manner during rehearsals and performances
  • Create lighting scenes and cues as needed
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting

What We Are Looking For

  • 3+ years' experience within the technical event production/broadcast environment
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Ability to work onsite
  • Full understanding of audio visual technology including lighting, audio/video output
  • Proficiency with LED walls and WATCHOUT is preferred
  • Experience working with the following equipment/tools is helpful but not required: Yamaha CL series desks; Final Cut ProX; Keynote; Google G-Suite; ETC Ion lighting desk; Crestron Control systems, ROSS Carbonite desks, Panasonic PTZ camera controllers, Dante Controller, Shure Wireless Workbench, PlaybackPro, and Clear-Com systems, Meyer Galileo.
  • Proficient in the technical delivery of high-quality events
  • Audio and Video output experience with strong technical understanding of systems
  • Experience operating event production systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must to build and maintain relationships
  • Ability to prioritize while adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of PTZ cameras and controllers
  • Knowledge of livestream/ broadcasting (especially streaming to the internet)

United States Residents: The base hourly pay for this position ranges from $45 to $70.
