Job description

About Daybreak
Daybreak Health ( http://www.daybreakhealth.com/ ) is creating a world where every young person benefits from mental health support. We provide evidence-based virtual and in-person therapy to children and youth ages 6-19. We partner with public school districts and health insurance companies to provide free, accessible mental health care to all families - we believe that every child should have access to mental health support as a fundamental part of their education.
We're a YC-backed company that raised its Seed from Maven Ventures, Series A from Lightspeed Ventures and just announced our Series B led by Union Square Ventures. We've seen tremendous success in the past 2 years and are growing quickly and efficiently. We're hiring for critical roles to continue our acceleration and national expansion.
As a team, Daybeakers:
  • Rally around our North Star mission.
  • Are creative, humble, hard-working, and determined to win.
  • Collaborate and execute incredibly well by "doing more with less" - we value efficiency and output over hours worked.
  • Communicate clearly using writing instead of jumping to meetings for everything
  • Are fully remote with team members across the country and have invested deeply in making async work
  • Value mental health: vulnerability is a big part of our culture. We also have regular mental health days (once per quarter).
  • Value fun and hold regular virtual and in-person activities.

The Fractional Chief Medical Officer Role
The fractional CMO is a part-time role (~10 hours/week) with the primary goal of working alongside Daybreak's leadership team to 1) create and deepen Daybreak's partnerships with health plans, and 2) provide clinical strategic direction with Daybreak's clinical programs. You'll become an expert in Daybreak's clinical program and weigh in on the path for improvement and expansion. You'll also regularly join meetings with health plan CMOs and leadership as part of partnership discussions to expand Daybreak's reach.
Who You Are
  • A psychiatrist or pediatrician with a passion for child and adolescent behavioral health care
  • You're passionate about digital mental health and the opportunity technology has to create lasting, scaled impact in mental health
  • You're comfortable in partnership and business development conversations, and ideally have worked closely with health plan leaders before
  • You've designed and improved clinical programs with a focus on evidence-based care and measurement-based practices

Responsibilities
  • Join and drive partnership conversations with health plan leaders to expand Daybreak's clinical impact through business development opportunities
  • Provide clinical leadership and strategic direction for the development and implementation of our mental health platform and services.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans for the growth and expansion of pediatric therapy services.
  • Ensure our services adhere to the highest clinical standards and are in compliance with relevant regulations and ethical guidelines, in partnership with our clinical leadership team
  • Serve as a spokesperson for the company on clinical matters, representing us at conferences, in the media, and in other public forums.
  • Engage with the community to raise awareness about pediatric therapy services and promote access to care for underserved populations.
  • Contribute to research initiatives and the dissemination of findings to advance the field of digital mental health.

Qualifications:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school as a Pediatrician or Psychiatrist, with board certification in child and adolescent psychiatry or a related specialty.
  • A minimum of 10 years of clinical experience, with a deep understanding of mental health care delivery.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards governing pediatric therapy services.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a healthcare organization, with a track record of driving clinical excellence and innovation.
  • Proven track record in business development, with experience in securing health plan contracts and payer negotiations.
  • Strong knowledge of digital health technologies and their application in mental health care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Commitment to staying abreast of the latest developments in mental health care and digital health.
