Foster Parent opportunities are available in Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Berks County, Schuylkill County, Carbon, Monroe, and Pike Counties.
Access Services is searching for individuals, couples, and families who are willing to open their hearts and homes to vulnerable children in their communities in need of safe, stable, and loving TEMPORARY homes.
As a Foster Parent you are responsible for the care, safety, and nurturance of the child(ren) placed into your home. This includes all the typical tasks one expects to perform in the execution of parenthood including providing guidance, food, clothing, and safety along with the willingness to better a child's life through the provision of unconditional love, educational support and assistance, emotional support, and behavioral management.
Foster parents are expected to provide practical supports to the children placed into their homes as well; this may look like scheduling appointments for regular well-exams with doctors and routine cleanings with dentists, attending meetings at school and court hearings, participating in case planning and being an advocate for the best interests of the child(ren) in your home. Practical support also includes transporting children to wherever they need to be, such as visits with their birth families, required court hearings, part-times jobs, outings with friends, therapy appointments, sports practices/games, school events, etc. All the support we would expect to provide for our own children, Foster Parents are expected to provide to children placed in their home.

Requirements

• Have a home that is insured and meets regulatory safety standards
• Be able to obtain PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Clearances for all household members aged 18 and over
• Be financially stable
• Be in good physical and mental health
• Have a valid drivers' license and fully insured vehicle
• Provide proof of rabies vaccinations for pets
• Willingness to complete required training

Benefits

1. As an independent contractor, foster care providers receive a generous monthly stipend to reimburse them for the cost of caring for the children placed with them.
2. Access Services also provides fantastic practical support such as a fully staffed 24-hour on-call service that families can access for help when needed after-hours and on weekends and holidays.
3. Foster Care Coordinators are assigned to each child placed into care with Access Services and their foster family. These coordinators:
   • guide and direct the family throughout the placement,
   • help connect them to services needed for the child,
   • visit with them twice per month and interface with the county on their behalf and
   • are available to provide emotional support if desired.

Many families develop beautiful long-term relationships with their foster care coordinators that stretch over the years.
