Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist individuals and families in crisis in a way that promotes positive change, growth
development and safety for all families
• Attends court hearings, prepares and files all court documents within required time frames
• Accurately completes required forms and reports in accordance with DCFS and OHU policy
within required timeframes, including adoption and guardianship home studies, child studies,
ICPC adoption home studies and subsidy files
• Reports unusual incidents immediately to the program supervisor and child abuse hotline if
necessary and deemed appropriate.
• Visits the foster home and home of the parent at required DCFS intervals
• Continually assesses risk of abuse, neglect and threatened harm by gathering appropriate
information
• Advocates with Juvenile Court system to ensure the required timelines regarding permanency
of children are occurring
• Performs adoption related responsibilities in accordance with state and federal laws,
Department of Children and Families Services Administrative Codes and Operating
Procedures, funding source policies, and internal policies on child abuse, abandonment, and
neglect within required time frames
• Functions positively as a member of the service team and maintains cooperative working
relationships with all staff members
• Keeps supervisor informed of the progression of assigned cases in a timely manner in addition
to regularly scheduled coaching for success, per agency policy
• Ensures that assigned caseload achieves established permanency expectations annually
• Transports clients (youth) and their families to mandated court hearings, school appointments,
doctor appointments or other case related appointments
• Independently completed duties as assigned
• Performs on-call duties as assigned
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education BSW/BA degree or related required
Experience 2+ years of direct child welfare experience required.
Other Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with OHU required levels of coverage for auto insurance.
Certification
- CWELCANS, CERAP, Placement Specialty preferred

software application skills as necessary

Physical Demands & Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if need; and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, computer, and copier. The employee is occasionally required to move items up to 50 pounds.
The employee works in varied residential environments based on assigned caseload and may encounter unpredictable clients. While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee must be able to enter and exit a vehicle or a building without assistance. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently drive an automobile, taking clients to appointments, in the local and regional area.
Occasionally, travel is outside the local area and overnight.
