The Company:
ALASTIN Skincare, Inc., founded in 2015 and located in Carlsbad, CA, is an emerging growth skincare company dedicated to developing and marketing new, scientifically proven and clinically-tested products that reinvigorate, protect, and maintain healthy skin for a lifetime.
Position Summary:
The Formulation/Technical Transfer Chemist will report to the Director of Product Development. Major responsibilities will include: Transfer of technical files of skincare formulations to contract manufacturers, oversee and troubleshoot pilot and production batches, organize and manage stability studies of pilot and production batches. Assist Director of Product Development in preparing and maintaining all documents necessary to support international distribution of company's products. Assist in product formulation development and quality assurance/stability testing of new and existing formulations.
Responsibilities:

  • Tech transfer of new and existing skincare formulations to manufacturers
  • Travel to manufacturers to oversee pilot and production batches, as needed
  • Coordinate stability/compatibility testing of pilot and production batches
  • Assist with compiling and maintaining all data requirements for development and testing of global formulation launches. This will include working with formulation and regulatory software systems: Coptis, Informatica, eDMS and PromoMats
  • Calibration and regular maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
  • Assist with functionality testing of all componentry
  • Operation of wet lab equipment including mixers, heating plates, homogenizers, pH meters, viscometers and scales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Product Development

Requirements:
  • BA/BS Degree in Chemistry or Biology required or equivalent education and directly related experience
  • 5+ years' experience in skincare formulation development and/or manufacturing
  • Extensive knowledge in the area of skincare ingredients
  • 30-40% travel is likely and a key component of this position
  • Extensive knowledge in working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Occasionally stoop, bend, and kneel
