Description
THIS IS A UNION REPRESENTED POSITION:
We are proud to be affiliated with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers AFL-CIO, District Lodge 190, which represents this position at our company. This means you become part of the union within 30 days of being hired and your wages and benefits are established through the CBA negotiation process. Your starting wage will be determined based on your relevant skills and experience, and you will be placed on a development plan that leads to a wage increase every six-months based on your success. You will become a Toyota Certified Service Technician after six months, and a Bronze certified technician after 18-months. You will have the opportunity to continue to progress to additional certification levels earning more pay at each step and should achieve journeyman status within a few years depending on where you start.
JOB OVERVIEW:
At the direction of the Service Advisor, you will efficiently perform periodic, routine maintenance services, safety inspections and simple repairs on lift trucks and other industrial equipment. Additionally, work assignments are expected to be completed in a safe and satisfactory manner, according to the needs of both the customer and Toyota Material Handling. The position also requires that you have good written, verbal, and organizational skills. You must also possess the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers. Our ideal candidate will live within a 30-mile radius of the territory they support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform planned maintenance services on a variety of equipment types including, but not limited to, lift trucks (internal combustion and electric powered), aerial equipment, industrial floor cleaning equipment, personnel and burden carriers, and dock equipment.
  • Properly describe and document service and minor repair descriptions on work-orders, fill out a timecard for each job, accurately account for parts used on the work-order and accurately order parts necessary to complete the job.
  • Accurately identify and document necessary repairs discovered during the planned maintenance service and communicate the need and scope of such repairs to the customer. Ask if the customer wishes to have the repairs performed, or a service estimate provided.
  • Willingly accept other duties, responsibilities and/or special projects as directed by management

General Duties
  • Regularly use personal protective equipment in the performance of each job
  • Track parts inventory in service vehicle. Re-order parts as needed to keep vehicle stocked
  • Keep van or assigned shop bay clean, organized, and ASEC compliant always
  • Once assigned a company vehicle, proactively stay on top of vehicle maintenance items
  • Stay updated on current Toyota product(s) via on-line training, and any other information/ materials provided
  • Attend all regularly scheduled service and safety meetings and complete assigned safety training on time
  • Drive in accordance with established DMV and TMH driving rules and regulations, always being courteous
  • Follow environmental and safety regulations, immediately reporting potential hazards that may cause injury to your supervisor
  • Follow written policies and procedures in the company IIPP Program and Employee Handbook
  • Willingly accept other duties, responsibilities and/or special projects as directed by management

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Required
  • Six-months experience as a Mechanic/Technician
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work safely under pressure, take general directions and use good judgement when working independently
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to shift priorities and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to act in a way that is consistent with our values
  • Basic knowledge of computer and ability to type information and take photos with a mobile device
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle and other industrial equipment if necessary to travel to customer site(s) and test equipment
  • Clear Background, Drug screen and DMV report

Desired
  • ASE certifications
  • Technical school certificate of completion

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Approximately 80% is spent bending, squatting, standing, or moving about the work area
  • Approximately 15% could be spent driving to and from customer sites and/or forklift equipment
  • Approximately 5% is spent seated at a desk, working on the telephone or at a computer terminal
  • Operation of foot controls or repetitive foot movement required for driving equipment including forklift and motor vehicle
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance and 100 pounds with assistance from others or utilizing a lifting device

Salary Description
$27 - $31/hr DOE
