JOB SUMMARY
- Under the supervision of the Production Supervisor, the Forklift Operator operates a pallet handling forklift to move finished product from the production line to the warehouse. Maintains prescribed stock rotation requirements and supplies production lines with needed raw materials.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: The job functions relate to the job, not the individual)
- Operate a forklift truck to place full goods in the warehouse and supply machines with raw materials.
- Monitor the quality of products or raw materials that are being used and report any inconsistencies in the quality of materials to management.
- Transport materials within the warehouse; remove dunnage from machines, sort, remove and replace damaged product.
- Accurately scan barcodes as needed and complete required paperwork and documentation.
- Sort empty pallets and shells.
- Follow standardized safety procedures and perform work in a safe and cost effective manner.
- Operate stretch wrap machines, as required.
- Sweep, mop, and clean warehouse as directed. May operate a floor scrubber machine.
- May hand stack and sort product, when needed. Perform bailing of recyclable materials.
- Substitute for other employees, in other job classifications, when needed.
- Transport empty pallets to the pallet dispenser and loading dispenser.
- Transport pallet loads of tier sheets and top frames to storage areas.
- Label and scan barcodes on all full goods pallets, record placement in warehouse.
- Change rolls of stretch wrap on pallet wrappers.
- Correctly stack out all full goods partials during production.
- Unload trailers of returned pallets and ensure that these pallets are checked and stored appropriately.
- Occasionally help unload trucks which deliver manufacturing materials and other items purchased by the company.
- Ability to read and write basic English.
- Transport empty can and bottle pallets to depallitizer.
- Transport raw materials to appropriate machines or storage areas.
- Clean whenever possible (mandatory at end of shift)
- Operate battery changing equipment.
- Follow all Food Safety and GMP Policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires High School diploma or equivalent with good math and English skills.
- Requires ability to complete Forklift Operator’s training course and successfully pass a test to obtain a Forklift Operator’s license.
- Ability to operate and understand our barcode system.
- Previous experience with a forklift is helpful, but not necessary.
- Requires ability to lift 50lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Requires ability to communicate with management and other employees.
- Must possess legible handwriting skills.
- Must be able to work under a minimum of supervision.
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
- Follow all GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Follow all food safety policies, procedures and regulations.
