Job Description
Primary responsibilities are to operate a forklift with the utmost care to ensure efficiency and safety to guarantee that material and products will always be at the right place in a timely manner.
Duties/Responsibilities- Load, unload, shipping, and receiving warehouse items and stack them to assigned places.
- Transport material/product to different locations within the facility. Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency.
- Move and load hazardous waste under direction of supervisor.
- Maintain forklift equipment by maintaining cleanliness of the forklift, recognizing potential repairs, and performing routine pre and post inspections and record all information on the daily checklist.
- Study production schedule to determine material requirements, movements, and deliveries.
- Must communicate effectively with other employees to ensure workers are safe throughout their shift
- Clean work area and equipment regularly by removing empty pallets, wood, and plastic.
- Adhere to company’s safety policies and procedures.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with company’s procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Identify and report faulty equipment, damages, and safety concerns to Supervisor immediately.
- Carry out any other responsibilities that the supervisor may assign from time to time or as needed.
- Proven experience as Forklift Operator.
- Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry 50Ibs. of weight.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Must be able to comprehend equipment manuals, information regarding hazardous chemicals and all equipment instruction.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Must be able to work in warehouse yard during all weather conditions.
- Ability to routinely bend or squat, walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time for an entire eight (8+) hour shift.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred but not required. Adequate work experience may be substituted in lieu of diploma or GED.
Additional Notes
- This job requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid, and dusty conditions. Personal Protective Equipment required and provided.
- Satisfactory pre-employment drug testing is required.
