Position Summary: As a Forklift Operator at 626 Fabrication, you will play a crucial role in our operations. Your primary responsibility is to operate a forklift to move materials and equipment efficiently and safely. You'll work closely with the team to ensure a smooth and productive workflow while maintaining the highest standards of safety.
Requirements: Minimum of 2 years experience operating 5-to-10 ton forklifts
Major Duties:
- Operate a Forklift
- Follow directions from supervisors and quality control personnel.
- Adhere to safety procedures and maintain safe work habits.
- Keep equipment and work areas clean and hazard-free.
- Detect, repair, and maintain equipment as needed.
- Load and unload materials from trucks and rail cars using forklifts and cranes.
- Ensure efficient utilization of organizational resources.
- Communicate changes, progress, and barriers to supervisors.
- Complete projects on time and within budget.
- Inventory materials on the work floor.
- Operate, adjust, and maintain machinery as required.
- Connect and fasten forklift grading blades and other attachments using hitches.
- Inspect cables and equipment for wear and perform maintenance.
- Direct helpers and truck drivers to ensure efficient operations.
- Operate yard equipment to transport loads to designated areas.
- Confer with supervisory personnel to address work procedures and quality issues.
- Take actions to address delays, emergencies, or issues in yard activities.
- Investigate and report damage, accidents, or delays.
- Coordinate activities between departments and resolve fabrication problems.
- Inspect materials and equipment for defects and malfunctions.
- Provide training to new employees on equipment operations and work procedures.
- Monitor work areas for safety and compliance.
- Collaborate with leadman and employees to minimize defects and rework.
- Develop, implement, and adjust standard operating procedures.
- Maintain records to identify and reduce defects and rework.
- Provide on-the-job training to enhance productivity and quality.
- Identify and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in material handling, loading, unloading, and inventory management.
- Possesses equipment and tool operation aptitude and the ability to instruct and train others.
