FORKLIFT DRIVER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Operates rider-type industrial forklift to pick up, move, place and position all kinds of materials. May manually load, unload, re-stack materials and assist in other production related tasks as needed. Performs routine servicing of equipment such as fueling, changing batteries, hooking up battery charger and checking fluid levels and tires.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures. Displays safe driving habits at all times.

 

2. Operates rider-type industrial forklift to pick up, move, place and position all kinds of materials.

 

3. May manually load, unload or re-stack materials.

 

4. Performs routine servicing of equipment such as fueling, changing batteries, hooking up battery charger and checking fluid levels and tires.

 

5. Advises supervisor of need for repairs to forklift.

 

6. Reviews materials and supplies inventory movement list to determine priorities and sequence of pick-ups and deliveries.

 

7. Loads trucks/trailers with proper weight balances and accurately accounts for weight and quantity described on load logs.

 

8. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum requirement; general educational background without high school completion, plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs.

 

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift certification. Valid Driver's license with acceptable driving history.
