All employees of Smith System are responsible for abiding by the company’s core values of servant leadership, diversity, ethical behavior, teamwork, and continuous learning. The Forklift Operator is responsible for driving a sit-down forklift to move unfinished materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train every year on safety requirements
- Always follow safety requirements.
- Ensure that palletized materials are placed in the correct locations and inventory is accurately maintained.
- Ensure that palletized materials are pulled upon request from manufacturing and shipping in a timely manner Load unlaminated bundles of wood to conveyor to feed assigned glue line.
- Move laminated bundles of wood from glue line to top line.
- From time to time, for the purposes of allowing employees to advance as well as to meet day to day labor needs, we may ask employees to work in other departments/positions outside of their regular job classification.
- All other duties as assigned.
work experience / education requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years’ experience operating sit-down forklifts.
ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must be able to maneuver safely with heavy bundles of wood in tight spaces amongst pedestrians.
- Attention to detail and ability to ensure functions are completed.
- Must pass a pre-hire operational skills test reviewing safe lift operation, awareness of surroundings, and ability to work efficiently.
- Dependable with good attendance.
- Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Proficiency with electronic devices such as tablets, RF scanners and computer systems.
- Must be able to lift to 50lbs without assistance.
- Must be able to lift objects greater than 50lbs with assistance.
- Ability to push, pull, kneel, squat on a frequent basis.
- Standing/Walking 8 or more hours per day.
