Forestry Technician

Summary of Position: 

Typical Hours/Days: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Hours and Days will vary with emergencies and weather events.

This job requires you to be a self-starter and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. A good safety attitude toward policies, procedures and housekeeping practices is required. Performs a variety of tree care related services to maintain the health of boulevard trees and park trees in the City of Bismarck and assist in the maintenance of the city's green infrastructure.  Supports Arborists during pruning, removal and other tree maintenance operations; erects safe work zones around trees being pruned and removed in parks and in the rights-of-way.  See job description for more information.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Graduation from High School or GED. Ability to read and write. Must have the ability to do considerable walking, heavy lifting, reaching, bending. 
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with work associated with manual labor, equipment operation, landscaping or general forestry work.
