Job description: Forester and Remote Pilot

Job Functions and Responsibilities: Working under the direction of the senior sUAS operators and foresters. Specific job functions will include:

• Performing sUAS flights in multiple different conditions while following applicable laws and safety protocols
• Performing field verifications of data collected to assist in the development of machine learning programs
• Assistance to the machine learning developers and organization of client data
• Completing projects and cooperating with clients to get the job done
• Performing physically demanding work in varied conditions
• Ability to travel up to a week at a time
• Conduct surveys in plantations to determine stocking, tree condition, survival, animal damage and effectiveness of reforestation projects
• Conduct stream survey, unit layout, and other general forestry field work
• Assist in the development of vegetation management plans

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

• BS in Forestry or similar field
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Take personal responsibility for your work
• Experience with GIS programs
• Experience with sUAS and possess part 107 license
• Ability to travel up to a week or two at a time
• Ability to travel and work 10+ hour days when needed
• Ability to drive long distances daily, lift 50lbs, stand, walk, hike on steep logged terrain.
• Have previous field forestry experience
• Safely navigate rough forest/logging roads using 4-wheel drive in all types of weather
• Be able to pass a background/drug test and have a good driving record
• Be 18 years or older and be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Be able to coordinate and interact with clients and other personnel

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 55 per week
