Position Overview:
We are seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst to join our team, with roles available from entry-level (step 1) to senior positions (Level 3). Candidates should have a strong foundation in digital forensics, with capabilities ranging from conducting detailed analyses to leading investigations and mentoring junior staff. The role demands a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of forensic integrity and an in-depth understanding of eDiscovery and digital forensic methodologies. This position is based in Buffalo, NY to our full service digital forensic lab.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct digital forensic examinations, including data acquisition, custom workflow data exporting, and professional reporting.
- Communicate effectively to both technical experts and external stakeholders as expected for the SME level.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for legal proceedings.
- Stay updated on current trends, tools, and procedures in the digital forensics field.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development programs.
- Lead complex digital forensic extraction operations, develop investigative strategies, and provide mentorship to junior analysts (for senior levels).
- Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures (for senior levels).
- Work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders to enhance investigative efficacy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience in law enforcement/military roles is also acceptable.
- 1-5+ years of relevant experience in digital analysis, forensics, or intelligence (required experience depends on level).
- Relevant industry standard certifications such as Cellebrite, EnCase, Magnet, Red/Purple/Blue Team. (NCFI- DEI, MDE, BCERT, NITRO, Etc. huge plus!)
- Proficiency with standard forensic tools, including Cellebrite, EnCase, FTK, X-Ways, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Professional appearance with a positive attitude and able to overcome stressful and fast-paced obstacles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience in legal proceedings and court testimonies (preferred for higher levels).
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities (required for senior positions).
Other Requirements:
- Must pass a standard background check.
- Applicants must have no history of substantiated dishonorable discharge, disbarment, or any other character discrepancies that could preclude credibility or eligibility to testify in court as an expert witness or subject matter expert. This encompasses any incidents leading to the revocation of security clearances or similar circumstances.
Salary Range:
- Salary is competitive and depends on experience and qualifications, spanning from entry (Step 1) to senior level (Step 3).
