We will provide all training necessary to perform these non-professional nursing care duties. If you are compassionate and eager to help, this is the job for you!
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This is a training-level position. Trainees complete a full-time training program, including instruction and closely supervised on-the-job duties, to gain skills for providing care and treatment to mentally ill patients referred by the criminal justice system. Training includes learning to provide daily routine care for patients and ensuring a safe, secure environment. You will assist patients in accomplishing day-to-day living activities and self-care skills, provide assistance based on individual patient needs, and actively engage patients in a therapeutic manner.
The first eight weeks of classroom training will be on day shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Following the classroom training, candidates will be assigned one of two shifts and be assigned to work every other weekend. You must be able to rotate between the 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM shift and the 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM shift for the one-year training period. You will be assigned to each shift for four consecutive months before rotating to the other shift. This will occur during the entire one-year probationary period.
You must work within the secure Regional Forensic Psychiatric Center.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Rotating schedule with 30-minute lunch and every other weekend off
    • 1st shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
    • 2nd shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
    • Completion of the tenth school grade; or
    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Other Requirements:

    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Legal Requirements:
    • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test.
    • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
      • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
