This is a short term, contract position lasting about 6 months.
We are looking for a Forensic Accountant to join our audit team.
Your main responsibilities include performing forensic research on, and analysis of, large datasets to identify potential fraud. To be successful in this role, you should combine keen investigative skills with experience in auditing. You should also be able to organize financial evidence into detailed reports that will be helpful to attorneys and law officials.
Ultimately, you should develop risk reduction and fraud prevention procedures to block future attempts to commit fraud.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze data to discover discrepancies
- Investigate evidence to support allegations of fraud
- Create organized and cohesive work papers to document the investigative process
- Identify potential patterns to group friend cases into categories to focus research efforts.
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Forensic Accountant, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or relevant role
- Highly proficient in MS Excel (Pivot tables, vlookups, formulas, etc.)
- Experience with accounting and financial procedures
- Understanding of forensic auditing procedures
- Strong investigative and analytical skills
- Excellent numeracy skills with an ability to spot inaccuracies
- The ability to handle confidential information
- BS degree in Accounting or Finance, preferably with a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
- Additional qualification in Economic Crime Investigation or Law Enforcement will be a plus
