This position is required to accomplish a critical component of the toxicology laboratory procedures that directly impacts the medicolegal death investigation conducted by the OCME in this statutory obligation to determine that cause and manner of death for all deaths which occur in each of the fifty-five (55) counties across the state. The work performed by the incumbent in this position provides direct support to the Forensic Pathologist for every case that requires toxicology services through the proper application for scientific analysis on specimens and samples receive the forensic toxicology laboratory. The results of the analysis for each cases are interpreted by the Forensic Pathologist and relied upon to inform their professional medical opinion and often times the basis for testimony in an appropriate court of law. Testimony by the Forensic Pathologists and /or the Chief Toxicologist are relied upon by local, state and federal court system in both criminal and civil proceedings. Other duties, as assigned.

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university with a major in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, forensic sciences, natural sciences, or related field.
