About the Position
This position provides interpretation/translation services to students, parents and/or staff for whom English is not their primary language. Interpreting service opportunities usually consist of attending (but are not limited to): conferences, meetings related to student's education, parent/teacher discussions, and community events. Other work opportunities include (but are not limited to): translating written documents/statements from one language to another language and proofreading documents/statements. Currently seeking candidates who are fluent in (fluent proficiency required in English and in target language), but not limited to, the following languages: Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Tigrinya, Amharic, Russian, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Thai, Tagalog, Nepali, Swahili, Mandingo, Cambodian, Japanese, Urdu, Pashto and Chinese.
Required Qualifications

• Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License/ID
• Must have a reliable method of transportation
• Must have availability to work afternoons/evenings

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Washington State DSHS Certificate (https://www.dshs.wa.gov/office-of-thesecretary/language-testing-and-certification-program)
• Experience working with students/families in an educational setting.

Salary: 22-23 Classified Substitutes & Hourly Employees Salary Schedule - Foreign Language Interpreter Pay Rate $26.25 per hour
Work Schedule: Varies
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
