Growing food manufacturer is looking for a Food Tech/R&D specialist. This person will ensure proper function of the Quality Assurance Department including but not limited to Quality, Regulatory, Food Safety, HACCP, SSOP, Labeling and USDA. Assuring that operations has a consistent understanding of quality programs and actively participates in process improvement designed to achieve quality and company goals.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Management of daily Quality Assurance and Research and Development activities in all plant areas that are impacted by the in-plant programs in the continuous improvement process.

· Compilation and review of data for trends and deviations followed by reporting execution of corrective and preventative measure.

· Shared ownership with operations management of product of processing issues.

· Manage accountability to the front line, ensuring immediate reaction and resolution to situations.

· Actively participate in new product and new process development and implementation.

· Maintain measurement systems, process control programs and auditing processes, as tools to verify that customer expectations are being met.

· Coordinate collaborative testing and check samples.

· Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal customers and with USDA personnel.

· SQF Level 3 Standard which includes overseeing the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF systems, including food safety and quality fundamentals and planning.

· Insure the integrity of the SQF systems and the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system.

· Arrange for/conduct external and internal audits for the food safety and HACCP programs as required

JOB AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

· Experience in a laboratory or R&D environment.

· Knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations and standards associated with food manufacturing.

· HACCP Certification.

· SQF Certification.

· Exceptional verbal, written, and listening skills.

· Must possess good computer skills and knowledge of computer program, Microsoft Word and Excel.

EDUCATION:

· Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related scientific field.

· 5-7 years of prior experience required.

· Product Development experience required.
