Job Description:
Madison College is seeking a Food Services Associate to join their team and collaborate with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef, focusing on executing services, initiatives, projects, and events for Madison College Dining Services. The Food Services Associate, who reports to the Executive Chef, plays a key role in creating innovating menu ideas and service strategies to enhance operational efficiency. Responsibilities include resource management, informed decision-making, fostering customer relationships, and supplying data to department heads about daily operations. This position does not have any direct reports.
Regular scheduled hours Monday through Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities:
- Performs general and technical routine hot food preparation/production duties for all venues.
- Performs general and technical routine cold food preparation/production duties for all venues.
- Ability to perform duties for all venues in food Services.
- Food and supply cost control. The position will utilize knowledge of labeling, dating, rotating, recipe conversion, time/temperature controls, time management, product/inventory management, portion control, and waste management Use communication skills and processes to inform leadership of needed products and possible shortages.
- Ensure public and multi-functional workstations are clean and sanitized in adherence to Dane County Public Health Department regulations.
- Develop junior FT, PT, and student staff per kitchen leadership assignment. Proficient knowledge of opening, closing, and operating processes and procedures. Communication to junior staff of Food Services standards of food quality, customer service and time management. Provide continual training or retraining of junior staff as required.
- Communication to departmental leadership of information essential to providing quality services.
- Maintain positive customer experience.
- Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.
- Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of basic food service and preparation techniques, recipe conversion, knife skills, kitchen function and safety and sanitation practices.
- Knowledge of basic math to perform recipe conversion for large volume cooking.
- Knowledge of mechanical kitchen equipment such as slicers, dishwashers, ovens, fryers
- Time management and organizational skills
- Ability to lift 25lbs.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School or equivalent working experience
- Six (6) months of directly related work experience
